Description

The Coachella Valley has been famous for years —e.g. the weather, the glamor, Presidential visits, celebrity shenanigans, scandals, the Walk of Stars, and of course, nowadays, about 123 golf courses plus tennis and polo. Desert Breezes in Palm Desert is right in the posh center of the Greater Palm Springs area — one of the finest resorts around.

Although famous for our sporting variety, for the less activity minded, there’s our version of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills called El Paseo (high-end shopping), the world’s longest single-span tramway with rotating cars that travel through five life zones from the Sonoran Desert to the alpine forest at the top of majestic Mt. San Jacinto – some 8,516 feet above sea level – with dining and diversions to counteract the ooooh-ahhhh view of the splendid valley below.

Hiking on well-maintained trails, horseback riding, oasis exploring, and the unique windmill-tours are other diversions for those who dare to leave the poolside. Date palms abound for harvesting, the Museum is rated one of the highest in the country, as are the Palm Springs Film Festival, and oodles of music events that attract thousands to the polo grounds for weekends of listening to the eclectic talent from all over. Indian casinos (and shows with top talent) are all over the place, and Greater Palm Springs, the newest WIVC addition to our jewels of resorts, has been an immediate hit. Come on over and see what the sea-level desert, backed by towering mountains, makes for a perfect vacation.
